Deleting your data
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Replyr is a Shopify application that answers a merchant’s Instagram messages and comments using that merchant’s own Shopify catalog. This page explains exactly how to have the data we hold about you erased, whether you are a merchant who installed the app or someone who messaged a store that uses it.
If you are a merchant
Uninstall Replyr from your Shopify admin. This is the fastest route and needs no request from you:
- Your Instagram access token is cleared and the app stops replying immediately.
- Every conversation, message and pending review we stored for your Instagram account is deleted immediately.
- Shopify notifies us again 48 hours after an uninstall, and we then erase everything that remains — your store record, settings, imported Instagram content, product tags and catalog data.
Disconnecting Instagram on the app’s home page stops replies and immediately deletes every conversation, message, pending review and comment record we stored for that Instagram account, along with its access token. Your store settings and the posts you tagged stay, so you can connect again later. To have everything erased, uninstall the app.
How long we keep it
A conversation is deleted automatically once nobody has written in it for 365 days, together with its messages. Pending reviews, delivery records and comment records older than 365 days are deleted on the same daily schedule.
If you messaged a store that uses Replyr
You never signed up with us, and you do not have an account here. We still hold what Instagram sent us so the store could answer you: your Instagram-scoped user ID, the text of your messages or public comments, and — for comments — your Instagram username.
Email us and we will erase it. Because we have no way to verify an Instagram identity by email alone, please tell us your Instagram username and the store’s Instagram account you messaged, so we can find the right records.
If you asked the store to delete your data through Shopify, we receive that request, but Shopify identifies you by your store account, not by your Instagram account, so we cannot tell which conversations are yours. We do not guess. Email us the details above and we will erase them.
How to request deletion
Email contact@dmreplyr.app with the subject “Data deletion request” and include:
- Merchants — your
.myshopify.comstore domain, and your Instagram username if you connected one. - Everyone else — your Instagram username, and the Instagram account of the store you messaged.
We acknowledge every request and complete deletion within 30 days. We will tell you when it is done.
What we delete
- Instagram access tokens and the connected account details.
- Conversations and individual messages, including anything you sent and anything the app replied.
- Public comments we recorded, and the reply we sent.
- Messages held for merchant review.
- For merchants, additionally: store settings, imported Instagram posts and stories, product tags, and catalog data derived from your Shopify products.
What we cannot delete
- Instagram itself. Messages and comments live in Instagram independently of us. Deleting them there is done through Instagram, and removing Replyr’s access does not remove them.
- Your Shopify data. We only read your product catalog; we never modify or store your orders or your customers. Shopify data is deleted through Shopify.
- Operational records. Server logs (which hold shortened Instagram IDs, not message text) and diagnostic traces of AI replies (which hold the message text) are kept by us and our tracing provider, and copies in backups, are not removed by the steps above. They are access-controlled and expire on their own retention schedules.
